Tuition is $675. This includes a catered buffet on opening night, a picnic lunch during the Santa Fe Institute field trip, and all extracurricular activities: a hike at Bandelier National Monument (there is, however, a modest entrance fee), a group dinner at Cowgirl Hall of Fame (we buy the food, you buy your own drinks) and a barbecue on the final evening of the workshop (drinks and food are on us).
For those staying at Ghost Ranch Santa Fe, lodging is $500 for five nights double occupancy (with breakfasts and lunches included) and $800 for a private room (a limited number are available). Ghost Ranch Santa Fe charges those who do not stay there a $150 commuter fee to cover lunches (but not breakfasts), coffee, course materials, and other incidentals. These prices are higher than in the past, but the conference center has been substantially improved, with wireless Internet throughout, private baths in all rooms, and (though rarely needed up here at 7,000 feet) air conditioning.
On two evenings, we'll all fend for ourselves at the many restaurants and bars around the downtown Plaza.
You are welcome to bring a spouse or other guest, in which case the conference center will charge you the double-occupancy rate plus $275 for the extra person (breakfasts and lunches included). Guests are welcome to join the hike and the Tuesday and Wednesday dinners. (We ask that you pay an extra activities fee of $40 to cover the costs.)
In the past, some people have chosen to stay instead at local bed and breakfasts. Many are within a few minutes' walk of Ghost Ranch Santa Fe and the Plaza.
